About La Petite Académie

About image of girl (1)

At La Petite Académie, we believe learning French should be fun, inspiring, and confidence-building, while also fostering cultural understanding. For over two decades, we have shared our love of this beautiful and influential language with children across New Zealand.

Founded by a NZ-qualified primary school teacher with many years of specialist French teaching experience both in New Zealand and overseas, our curriculum is built on sound educational principles and a genuine passion for French. Our teaching team are enthusiastic educators who bring warmth, energy, and creativity to every lesson.

Our approach is fun and interactive, yet carefully structured. Children build communication skills and accurate pronunciation through songs, games, stories, drama, role-plays, hands-on activities and real-world scenarios. Along the way, they also explore the rich and vibrant French culture, sparking curiosity and opening their minds to the wider world.

At La Petite Académie, children don’t just learn words — they discover the joy of language and the world it opens up.

"This is funny, Seraphine and I were in a Macaron Shop ( La Maison du Chocolat at 225 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré ) and the very nice woman asked where we were from (after we had chatted for a bit and Sera had answered her English questions in French) and so I said NZ, and she asked why my daughter spoke with no accent...like a Parisienne...Well done you! Nice teaching!"
